Build & Test Supervisor
Lead the Assembly & Test team in a fast-paced environment, delivering on-time builds with clear plans, robust docs and continuous improvement.
Company Overview
Alloyed is a young venture-funded company built with world-class metallurgists, mechanical engineers, technicians, and software developers. Operating from our HQ in the UK but also globally, we are building the future of advanced metal components. Our innovative approach integrates proprietary software that combines advanced machine learning and physical modelling with extensive experimental facilities, enabling us to 3D print metal components more efficiently and effectively than anyone else.
Our facilities in Yarnton and Abingdon, near Oxford, are dedicated to establishing the world’s fastest, smartest, and best-equipped environment for the rapid development of additively manufactured parts and the creation of novel metal alloys for enhanced performance.
We serve a variety of sectors including electronics, aerospace, and industrial by leveraging our cutting-edge technology to build businesses across diverse markets, each with unique requirements, timelines, customers, and cultures.
Role Overview
Argive, a division of Alloyed, is currently designing microturbine engines for a range of jet propulsion applications. The system architecture is simple, with outer diameters ranging between 60-240mm considered. The products use additive manufacturing to increase performance compared to state-of the-art incorporating complex designs and proprietary high temperature materials, including nickel superalloys. The engines also have a consolidated part count and can be manufactured and scaled cost-competitively in the UK on Alloyed’s assets.
Argive is seeking a motivated and experienced Build & Test Supervisor responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Assembly & Test Technician team, ensuring that assembly and test work is delivered safely, on time, and to quality. The role combines people leadership, operational planning, process development, and cross-team collaboration — with a strong emphasis on building lasting capability within the team and embedding robust documentation and continuous improvement across the function.
You will report to the Head of Testing and be based between Alloyed’s site in Yarnton and local testing sites, but travel to other testing sites in the UK may be required from time to time. A highly competitive remuneration package is offered, including equity incentives.
Responsibilities
Plan and assign assembly/test work so it is delivered safely, on time and to standard
Remove blockers and re-plan daily as priorities and the task pipeline change
Own and improve scheduling/resourcing so technicians always have a clear work pipeline.
Own work instructions/SOPs so processes are clear, followed consistently, and improved over time
Drive continuous improvement and compliance to quality and H&S standards (“right first time”)
Support technicians with build/test issues, escalation, and capability development (incl. resourcing forecasts)
Communicate plans, priorities and dependencies across programme stakeholders to keen teams aligned
Set shop-floor standards for accountability, development and teamwork to enable repeatable, safe delivery
Maintain 5S across assembly/test areas (housekeeping, layout and organisation)
Essential skills
Led assembly/test/manufacturing technician teams in a fast-paced development setting
Run day-to-day operations in lab-based hardware test environments
Plan and allocate work in a priority-shifting environment, including capacity planning
Led 5S/Lean/continuous improvement on the shop floor
Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs and operational documentation
Worked in engineering development with defined quality systems and H&S frameworks
Confident presenting ops performance: progress, risks/blockers and improvement actions
UK driving licence and access to a car (mileage reimbursed)
Desired skills
Used ERP/MES or digital shop-floor tools (e.g., Odoo, Airtable, Windchill)
Formal continuous-improvement training/accreditation (Lean, Six Sigma)
Exposure to engine/powertrain/rotating-equipment assembly and test
Managed teams or operations across multiple sites/facilities
